THE CONSCIOUS COSMONAUT EXPERIENCE
LEAD BY CAMERON & MELAYNE SHAYNE
“There is no coming to consciousness without pain. People will do anything, no matter how absurd, in order to avoid facing their own Soul. One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”
— Carl Jung
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION
This 3 day experience (+ arrival and departure days) is an investigation into the deepest, subtle and often hidden aspects of our being which we tend to not access in everyday experience. With the principles method of subjective inquiry, namely meditation in the traditions of Vipassana and Zazen as well as supporting tools we ignite the evolution of consciousness & behavior individually and collectively.
OBJECTIVES
This experience is designed to initiate a three tier transformation. Each representing a layer of the human experience. Each day will focus on a different layer. Subjective: Self, mind, thoughts, emotions, joy and pain. Intersubjective: Relationships, community. Objective: Environment, Nature and the cosmos. The primary objective is to become fully resolved from any grip of the past, to be fully present and alive to the full spectrum of emotions, to increase heart/mind coherence, to deepen relationship to ourselves, and the world around us, instill broader perspectives and see the bigger picture.
THE PRACTICE
MEDITATION
Meditation sets us on the arduous path toward the center of conscious experience. It’s only with the intention of stopping and observing long enough to see our patterns and behaviors that we can start becoming mindful of what and where to change. With sincere and disciplined practice, we learn the patterns of mind, behaviors and the emotional process. It’s only by observing this process directly that we can remold our behaviors into a true conscious process.
The total time for daily meditation practice sums 4 hours, each in 1 hours sittings. Our style of meditation is Zazen. It is the practice of seeing things as they are, not as we want them to be. It is the extended observation of the natural rising and passing of all thoughts, feeling and experiences. To sit in a state of balance and equanimity while observing the temporary nature of all things. It is to know and access a state within yourself where you are free from the push and pull of life, and into a state of completeness and acceptance.
SET & SETTING
The practices will take place outdoors during the day time and centered around a fire and under the stars at night time. The experience is self-directed, supported by uniquely designed soundscapes.
NOBLE SILENCE
Noble silence begins first thing in the morning until the end of the last meditation, this assist with the subsiding of thought and examination so that you many enter into a meditative state. Silence becomes noble when it is an inner silence, when the mind is calm and at ease. Noble silence helps us practice real presence, both in the world around us and inside ourselves. Noble silence leads to inner silence. Inner silence leads to deep listening. And when we listen deeply, we begin to understand, and respond with compassion.
MOVEMENT
We have allocated one guided movement practice each day to prime the body and mind for meditation. This movement practice can be used as a tool to assist with the flow and processing of emotions and releasing of tension. This will consist of signature Budokon Yoga, Mobility or free-form movement.
HOT/COLD THERAPY
On site we have an 8 person redwood barrel sauna and an ice tub. This will serve as a reset and refresh for the evening journey. The sauna benefits by relieving tension, detoxifying and inducing a deeply relaxed state. The ice-bath revitalizes the body, and tests the will-power of mind to surrender and accept.
DIGITAL DETOX
We encourage you to make vow to a digital detox, where we will offer to keep all digital devices for the duration of the course.
